Rock Steady was formed in 2009 with the goal of bringing high-caliber, high-energy, danceable classic rock to the Eastside and greater Seattle areas. Covering well-known classics from the prolific 70's era as well as familiar staples from the 60's, 80's, 90's, 00's and beyond - Rock Steady has something for everyone. A Rock Steady show will have you singing and dancing to classics from the Beatles to Bad Company; Jefferson Airplane to Journey; Led Zeppelin to U2 - and just about everything in between.
Amazing versatility from powerhouse vocalist Alex Ames shows that she is just as comfortable singing Plant, Rogers and Perry as she is singing Joplin, Benetar or Ann Wilson. Bassist Dave Lavin and guitarist Dave Wilson bring authentic fretwork to the arrangements as well as lending fresh interpretations to the band's wide musical offerings. Drummer David Nielsen has toured Japan as both a performer and as a drum tech for the legendary band "Heart". The rythmic backbone to the band, Nielsen's powerful groove will get your feet moving!
Rock Steady has become a staple on the eastside of Seattle, frequenting such high-profile venues as RedHook Brewery (who has booked the band for three straight, annual, sold-out, Halloween parties). The band is also sought after for corporate and private parties and weddings. Rock Steady's success is due to their meticulous delivery of quality rock and roll; bringing a whole lot of fun to their shows; and (may we say?) four of the nicest people you'll ever meet!
It's not every day you hear a classic rock-inspired version of a Paula Abdul tune sandwiched between the smoking fretwork of a Jimi Hendrix or Led Zeppelin tune. But this is what the band does best - and this is what their followers seem to enjoy. Rock Steady is a band you can come to see as a concert, or come to dance the night away!
Rock Steady... classic rock and beyond.

Dave has lived in the Seattle area most of his life, playing guitar in an eclectic mix of different bands and musical projects in several genres, including rock, progressive rock, jazz, acoustic and gospel. A life-long devotee to the six-string, Dave cites his primary influences as Jimmy Page, Roy Buchannan, Bruce Cockburn, David Gilmour, Steve Howe and The Beatles.
What does Dave like most about playing with Rock Steady?
"Playing in a power-trio - with a vocalist making it a foursome - used to be the norm in the early days of classic rock. Over the years (er... decades) there has been a shift towards more instruments, more singers, bigger production, more electronics, sampling, click tracks, etc. I love seeing acts who pull it off with just three or four people onstage. Rock Steady takes on that challenge. There is a purity... a rawness - and an amazing amount of energy that is generated from this line up. Each member has to be confident, proficient and able to fill up the space - as well as let the music breath. It is a wonderful challenge that keeps us all on our musical toes!"

Dave is a Seattle area native and has played in several well regarded bands during his music career which has taken him from pop to blues to R&B and gospel. However, in Rock Steady, Dave gets to once again explore his favorite genre: straight up classic rock! Dave takes particular pride (and joy!) in locking in tight with the drums and creating a groove that keeps the dance floor packed. Along with providing reliable chops on bass, Dave brings solid lead and backing vocals to augment those provided by lead vocalist Alex Ames and guitarist Dave Wilson. More than anything Dave loves to see people dancing and having fun. Rock Steady baby!!

David Nielsen grew up in Japan where his drumming skills were honed like a samurai sword! A powerful drummer with impeccible chops, David is a student of the instrument and is well-respected by drummers everywhere. He has played in numerous bands in the Pacific Northwest - including Steven Fossen's post-Heart project "Strypes" as well as touring and recording with Japanese pop star Ann Lewis. David also served as Michael Derosier's drum tech during Heart's late 70's tour of Japan.
